Anti-malaria drive in 2000 Chhattisgarh villages

Chhattisgarh Government will soon launch a drive for early prevention of malaria during ongoing monsoon season under which mosquito repellent will be sprayed in around 2000 villages across the state.

The state government has planned to run a comprehensive drive to deal with malaria in 23 out of 27 districts from this month, a health official said in Raipur.

For the purpose, the health Department has constituted 379 teams for spraying mosquito repellent in 15 lakh houses of around 2000 villages, he added.

According to PTI, Dantewada, Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Bijapur, Bastar and Sukma, besides other districts namely Bilaspur, Balod, Gariaband, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Rajnandgaon, Kabeerdham, Dhamtari, Sarguja, Korba, Koriya, Jashpur, Surajpur, Balrampur, Balodabazar-Bhatapara and Mahasamund districts will be covered under target, the official said.

In all the districts of Bastar Division and four development blocks of Bilaspur Division, synthetic pyrethoid will be sprinkled in houses while DDT will be sprayed in remaining places, he said.

People will be informed three day in advance about the visit of these teams, he said appealing people to cooperate with the spraying staff. Villagers will be advised not to go for whitewashing their houses for at least two months after DDT or synthetic pyrethoid spraying, he added.
