[YS TV] BioEnergy Ventures - Leveraging the Potential of Biomass Residue
BioEnergy Ventures, cofounded by Nikhil Halgeri and Satish Kashyap, recently won 2 lakhs during the iDiya competition held at ISB in Hyderabad. Neither one of them are on their first go in the entrepreneurial world, but both have been bitten by the desire to branch out on their own and start a new venture.
Halgeri and Kashyap combined their entrepreneurial desires in the creation of BioEnergy Ventures, which is working to leverage the potential of agricultural biomass residue and turn that residue into briquettes. These briquettes can then be used as cleaner fuel alternatives for heating applications than using fuel, wood, or coal. BioEnergy Ventures is also working to automate the entire biomass residue process in order to increase its efficiency. The process is currently challenging as different types of biomass residue are available during each parts of the year depending on what type of crop is in season. Determined to not be dependent on one type of crop, BioEnergy Ventures is working towards using a variety of crops to create a process that will ensure consistent quantities of briquettes over the entire year. These briquettes will decrease the amount of biomass residue that burns away, rots, or becomes inundated in water and BioEnergy Ventures is working to create automation thereby creating efficiencies in briquette making process!
